Questionnaire surveys were given to students who were junior high schools in Chiayi City and Chiayi County. The tools included “parent-child relationship Questionnaire”, “Parental negative expression Scale” and “Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire”. There were 486 valid responses collected. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regressions. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The level of junior high school students’ depression is “Minor”. Mother expresses more negative expression than fathers. The mother-child relationships were better that those between father-child. Moreover, the students feel that they love their parents more than their parents love them. 2.There are no difference between boys and girls’ depression, living status and family social economic status. 3.Boys perceived more “threatening and refusing” from parents than girls. 4.There are positive correlation between depression and “humiliation and criticizing”, “threatening and refusing”, and “being looking down upon”. 5. The multiple regression analyses indicated that parent-child relations are mediator of parental negative expression and junior high school students’ depression. Based on the findings above, suggestions were made for family life educators, junior high school faculties, and parents . Lin, Shu-Ling 林淑玲 學位論文 ; thesis zh-TW
