Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 輔導與諮商學系研究所 === 102 === The purpose of this research was to explore the effects of an adventure therapy group on the hope of incarcerated HIV-infected drug abusers. Twenty-four incarcerated HIV-infected drug abusers were assigned into an experimental group and a control group. The twelve experimental members were arranged to attend twelve sessions of an adventure therapy group within three months. Each session was two hours long. The control group did not participate in any group therapy. In order to assess the effects on their hope, all subjects received the pretest, the posttest, and the follow-up test from the Hope Inventory. The data was analyzed by the paired-samples T-test and analysis of covariance(ANCOVA). The feedback sheets were also applied as the supplements of the research results. The conclusions drawn from this research are as follows: 1.According to the paired-samples T-test, the control group has significant differences in the pathway thought of the pretest and the follow-up test score, and the rest have no significant differences. The experimental group has significant differences only in the agency thought of the pretest and the posttest score. 2.According to the analysis of covariance(ANCOVA), the experimental group has significant interaction effects on the agency thought of both the posttest and the follow-up test. After the Johnson-Neyman method of analysis, it becomes apparent that when members of the experimental group score more than 26.88 points on the pretest of the agency thought, there are significant immediate effects on the hope after the adventure therapy group. 3.According to the line chart about the average score of the pretest, the posttest, and the follow-up test, the hope of the experimental group increases after the adventure therapy group, but decreases after a period of time. 4.From the feedback sheet of the subjects, the experimental group members received more positive feelings and feedbacks. Finally, this study suggests the correctional agency implements the adventure therapy group for inmates to help them grow.
