| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育學系研究所 === 102 === The purpose of this study was to the effect of integrating Newspaper In Education program into reading instruction on second grader’s reading motivation and word recognition ability. The subjects were second grades student in chai-yi connty. One class was the experimental group given nie program in reading class while the other class was the control group reading by normal teaching in reading class.
The whole experimental instruction had lasted for twenty classes within ten weeks. Reading Motivation Questionnaire” and “Chinese Character Recognition“ were used as instrument to collect data. One-way Analysis of Covariance (ANCONA) was used to analyze the difference of score in ”Reading Motivation Questionnaire” and “Chinese Character Recognition “.
The results of the study were indicated that:

Newspaper In Education program into reading instruction helps to improve “ competence and efficacy beliefs” and “ achievement values and goals”, but not on “ social aspects of reading ”.

Newspaper In Education program into reading instruction helps to improve “efficacy”, “challenge”, “curiosity”, “involvement”, “importance”,but not on “recognition”, “grades”, “competition”, “social”, “work avoidance”, “compliance”.
4.
Newspaper In Education program into reading instruction cant not help to improve word recognition ability.
5.
Newspaper In Education program into reading instruction cant not help to improve word recognition ability on the Experimental group of students of different genders or different literacy groups.
