碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 自然資源與環境學系 === 102 === Rural Calling：A Study of Green Care Experience in Hannou-HanX Life Abstract As technology progresses and society develops, life in cities becomes fast-paced, high-pressure, and is filled with large amount of information. People living in cities suffer both physically and mentally because of it, and social problems have been increasing without limit as a result. Even though cities provide more economic opportunities, countryside provides a peaceful space close to nature that helps people relax and heal their minds and bodies. This study discusses the effects of Green Care on people moving from urban areas to country side. By studying the cases where people move from cities to countryside through 「The 102 Hannou - HanX program in Hualien」program , this study attempts to determine the motive of these people in order to elaborate on changes in participants’ behaviors in terms of physiology, psychology and societal interaction. Using purposive sampling and qualitative analysis, this study selected ten members within the criteria of nature-loving, familiar with farming, and common presence in the program for interview. These interviews focus on understanding their motives for participating in the program and the changes in their behaviors. The analysis includes observations from during the lessons and activities in the program, Hannou-HanX lifestyle observation, and participants’ own proposals. The observation results show the motives of people moving are closely related to the environments in the cities, including food, environmental, and health care issues, which cause them to panic and feel dissatisfaction in city lives .Pressure felt in jobs, social values, and complicated interactions with people are the main pushing factors that elicit their reminiscence of the nature. As a result, their past experience and comforting memory in nature lead to Counter-urbanization .Aside from the reasons listed above, these migrants may be looking to pursue simple lifestyles, friendly lands, and self-esteem through the Hannou-HanX program as well. From Green Care related publications and the researcher’s observatory results, when living a Hannou-HanX lifestyle ,migrant’s interactions with animals and natural environment relieve their pressure, resulting in better quality of life .Also, taking care of animals and plants could help migrants regain their self-esteem and discover them meaning of life. Besides spiritual satisfaction, they would have more time and involvement with themselves and the surroundings, creating a closer societal interaction and a chance to heal their confused and hurt minds. This study is meant to raise awareness regarding the importance of pre serving farms and villages. Besides producing food, farms provide space sand environment for people to relax, and for migrants to spend more time with themselves. Hannou –HanX lifestyle achieves the idea of helping people to return to nature. By starting half–farming, embracing nature, and recall the longing for the land, people attempts to seek or create an “X” factor that would benefit both themselves and societies by sharing migrants’ spiritual satisfaction through the “X” factor to others.
