Electromyography (EMG), one of the widely accepted muscle fatigue examine tool, was used as the comparing standard. The experiment subjects are 9 male young men whose average age is 24, average tall is 171.4 cm, and average weight is 76.6 kg. Experiment subjects conducted two types of experiments, the preliminary test and the rowing experiment. In the preliminary tests the subjects were asked to hold a dumb bell horizontal in right hand for 30 seconds, then rest for 1 minute, repeat 5 times. The rowing experiment required the subjects to do rowing ergometer excise for 20 minutes then rest for 5 minutes, repeat 3 times. The purpose of the preliminary test was to validate the equipments and the experiment procedures. In the meantime, the blood saturation, together with heat rate, and the EMG were measured and compared. Matlab software package was adopted to calculate the rms, the MPF, and the MF values of the EMG signals as indices to detect the muscle fatigue. Comparing these indices with the blood saturation could study the feasibility of using blood saturation to detect muscle fatigue. Results show that subject rowed for averaged 53 seconds to reach effective excise heart rate, longer than what was recorded in the literature. In the preliminary tests, the EMG indices indeed were able to show certain expected trend of muscle fatigue; but not for the rowing experiments. No certain pattern or characteristic appeared to relate to muscle fatigue could be identified in neither experiments for the blood saturation. Though the blood saturation appeared slightly decreased trend during the rowing experiments, but it could not be concluded if it was related to the muscle fatigue since the comparing standard, the EMG indices, showed no certain pattern related to the muscle fatigue. It seemed that neither blood saturation, nor EMG indices is feasible for detecting muscle fatigue for rowing ergometer excise. Gang-Jhy Wu 吳剛智 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 76 zh-TW
