To enable cargo transportation to arrive safely at the destination on time, the captain of an ocean-going liner must evaluate and monitor the affect of climate change on short-, mid-, and long-haul vessels. To ensure that the climate factor does not create schedule delays, amending the passage plan according to the current circumstances is necessary. For achieving the goal of arriving at the destination on time and ensuring cargo transportation safety, the captain must use updated meteorological information to adjust his or her plan accordingly and compare various route options to determine the optimal route based on oil consumption and speed. Based on the comparative analysis conducted in this study, using actual vessels crossing the Pacific Ocean as an example, variations in the passage plan according to current circumstances and the season were discussed to analyze the time, travel distance, oil consumption, and cargo damage involved when vessels encounter hazardous weather conditions. The results can be used by navigators as a reference. 廖宗 蘇東濤 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 84 zh-TW |
