| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄海洋科技大學 === 航運管理研究所 === 102 === The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of port selection of liner shipping companies. Based on the practical expert interviews and relevant literatures, the port selection factors (PSFs) of liner shipping companies are first investigated. A Fuzzy AHP model is then proposed to weight those PSFs, by which liners shipping carriers can make their policies of port selection. As an empirical study, the liner shipping companies at Kaohsiung in Taiwan were investigated to validate the model. Results indicate that the main determinants of port selection for liners shipping carriers are: the cargo volumes of local port area, the cargo volumes of port transit, the balance of cargo volumes between import and export. The results could provide practical information for port authority to make policies in improving the performance of port business.
