The standard of novel selection is first, the protagonist is ODA NOBUNAGA, and the description is basically faithful for the history, written by famous writers, widely-read novels, etc. The chosen five literary works are “NOBUNAGA”, written by SAKAGUCHI ANGO, “ODA NOBUNAGA”, written by YAMAOKA SOUHACHI, “KUNITORIMONOGATARI”, written by SHIBA RYOUTAROU, “GETENNHAYUMEKA”, written by TSUMOTO YO, and “KESSENNNOTOKI”, written by ENDO SHUSAKU. As a result of research, there is a conclusion below. The original images of NOBUNAGA are first created by SAKAGUCHI ANGO. He describes NOBUNAGA as a pragmatist, and the image influences the later ones indeed. One images of NOBUNAGA is described as an ordinary positive young man (ANGO), transferred into an omnipotent hero, like a flawless “God” (YAMAOKA), and then changed to the image of a cruel detective Creator (SHIBA). Later, the images of NOBUNAGA change into a skeptical man, who never believes other ones except himself and is a very incomprehensible God(TSUMOTO). At last, the image of NOBUNAGA is completely transferred into a weak man desiring to be stronger (ENDO). The changes of NOBUNAGA images are only examined and stated in the order of years and writers. The reason of changes and the relationships between the images and social situation and so on, are expected in the studies in the future. As a result of research, there is a conclusion below.
