In this study, the object are two high school students in Kaohsiung, who participate in the second session of the National Science Council’s progect titled as " Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction and Green Living Workshop"and" Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction and Green Living in Service-Learning Activities". The resercher makes an outline for in-depth semi-structured interviews to conduct with 13 respondents, and collects relevant data and analyzes them with quality method of Grounded Theory. The results were as follows: 1. The motivation and expectations of high school students who participate in this NSC are different. Their participatory motivation is to make a contribution for the Earth, to be more meaningful compared to other things, family factors, to expand their knowledge, and to encourage people to perform energy saving and carbon reduction. Only few participants were asked to participate and just want to have a tasty lunch. 2. The effects upon the participants are positive, including better knowledge of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions, more behavior of energy saving and carbon reduction, to intensify presentation skills, to acquisire of the skill in computer software to build the concept of energy saving and carbon reduction into people’s mind, to try to solve the problem, to face the pressure of the public, and more efficient in time mangement. 3.The attitudes of the participants in energy saving and carbon reduction in service-learning are positive. They are willing to do more effort about energy saving and carbon reduction, to reinforce their belief of energy saving and carbon reduction, to be willing to promote the concept to their family and friends, to enhance team communication and cooperation, to put emphasis on sense of responsibility, to be willing to continue to participate in relevant activities, to concern about related issues, to get pleasure from interacting with the public, significance of the activities that people can participate in the real implementation in daily life. In addition, the participants feel tired, and the participants in the group of special topic need more attention. Based on the research findings above, this study made suggestions to the designers of the activities in the future and to futuer studies’ reference.
