Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 美術學系 === 102 === The topic for this description of creation is Searching for loss. The word “loss” is defined as one’s possession being deprived, either tangible or intangible. The reasons that people experience loss and their reactions can be fairly different. Some might deal with loss carefully as others let it overwhelm their body and soul. As I have mourned several deaths of my families, “loss” has occupied for long in my life. Thus, using photography as a medium, I recorded my encounter with loss and my transformation from deep sorrow. I always believe that art should relate to life in order to touch the audience. Therefore, the materials of my creation were all collected from daily life. As for tools, I respectively used the camera cellphone, the DSLR-like camera, and the digital single lens reflex camera. Some of my works were retouched with editing programs while some were not. Some of the pieces were single images, and some others were montages or collages. This description of creation gathers my works from 2011 through 2014. Starting from my own “loss”, it includes works on grief, helplessness, disturbance, irresolution, and t stretches out to reflection and enlightenment. Finally, I hope to transform lives by looking for light. The main themes are as follows: (1) Literature review; (2) Materials and analysis; (3) Process of creation and interpretation. In my opinion, the camera is a common and user-friendly tool. If it is used properly, then art would be related more to our life. Besides using languages, one could clear his minds through photography as well. With this belief, I expect myself to be able to look back and forward with an open mind in my journey of life.
