Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 美術學系 === 102 === Aiming to voice for those objects thrown out rapidly under the thought of fast consuming in contemporary, I started to develop “Phantom of the soft sculpture series” as my creations in2011 based on daily objects. Do those objects have sole? Do those objects also possess lives? Collecting those accumulations from the white glue as a media, I attempt to bring back those objects by reforming the true essence of soft sculpture. I start from the context of daily objects in my thesis. I focus on researching into the daily materiality and space perceptivity. I try to figure out that our cognition toward to daily life. I compare my creations with other artists whose creations are also related to contemporary daily issues, and then I go clarifying the modality of my creations and its “daily” concept. I start from the concept of ancient animism, and take white glue as my media to display my object phantom which is the object to carry with its soul and named the new soft sculpture. I re-interpret the concept of sculpture, and define the object soul of my “phantom soft sculpture series” context. At the final of the thesis, I will explain how I can make these objects re-move and re-live by using video media. I let the timeline trace back to how the memories of objects born, and relive these phantom soft sculptures through an artistic way. “Phantom of the soft sculpture series” has gone through 4 periods, object series, toy series, institutional supporter series, and the backing to daily series. I attempt to speculate those aspects deeply in my thesis like consumption, emotions, videos and systems. And then, I collect time and memories of objects by doing my creations and attempt to capture those missing slight emotions back. By reflecting the state of contemporary society, I am going to “gum” these fractures together and to “sculp” up my own context with my creations.
