The focus of this study is on resonance hypothesis on clan and temples, the impact of clan on local communities and the operation of the Song Clan Association.
This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter outlines the purpose of research, fieldwork location and research method. Chapter two provides a background introduction to Hakka Song Clan and Pingzhen Bau-zhong Yi-min Temple. Chapter three is a review of literature. By using interview and data analysis, the relationship between clan and temples was described in chapter four. Results are discussed and conclusions are draw in chapter five.
The conclusions of the study show that the development of Hakka Song Clan is not only based on common property for ancestor worship and Clan Association, but more important by the establishment of the Hakka Yi-Min belief to unite the Hakka people and consolidate influence of Song Clan in local communities.
Through literature analysis and empirical research of fieldwork and interview, this study confirms the assumption of resonance hypothesis on the relationship between clan and temples.
