Summary:碩士 === 南開科技大學 === 福祉科技與服務管理所 === 102 === With the advent of an aging society and the importance of community participation, this study mainly focuses on the present situation of the mid-aged and elderly Population’s participation in community activities, exploring the correlation among the mid-aged and elderly Population’s motives for participating in community activities, the extent of participation and benefit. Questionnaires were distributed to the mid-aged and elderly Population living in Caotun town in Nantou County to collect the data. 300 questionnaires were delivered and 261valid questionnaires were returned. The return rate is 87%. The data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 version. Research findings: (1) The mid-aged and elderly Population have strong motivation to participate in community activities, and the orientation of "community identity" is the highest. (2) The extent of the mid-aged and elderly Population’s participation is "moderate ", and the level of "involvement" is the highest. (3) The benefit of the mid-aged and elderly Population’s participation in community activities is very high, and the "social benefit" is the highest. (4) The motivation to participate in community activities, extent of participation and benefit don’t vary due to the background variable. (5) There is a high correlation among community participation motives, the extent of participation and benefit. The result of this study is to provide reference for the mid-aged and elderly Population and various community associations; thus, the communities will provide diverse, abundant activities to improve the elders’ willingness and frequency to participate. Ultimately, the mid-aged and elderly Population’s living quality will be promoted. Keywords: Community participation, Motivation, Involvement, Participation benefits
