It also explores the differences in demand and consumption decision factors when parents come from different backgrounds and discusses the present situation of talent education for preschool children in the urban area of Kaohsiung City. The study used a questionnaire survey, which was carried out in the urban area of Kaohsiung City. The research tool was “factors affecting talent education demand and consumption decisions of preschool children’s parents in urban area of Kaohsiung City” questionnaire. The subjects were parents of preschoolers in public kindergartens. In total, 527 valid questionnaires were returned. The research data analysis adopted the average method, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA and independent-samples t-test. The study has reached the following conclusions: 1. The factors regarding parents’ demand for talent education, by the order of importance,include “Development Stimulation,” “Child care Service,” “Emphasis on Learning Results,” “Supplementary Education” and “Enhancement of Learning Achievement.” 2. The factors in parents’ consumption decisions regarding talent education, by the order of importance, include “faculty and teaching,” “environment and safety” and “quality and management.” 3. Mothers and fathers of preschool children exhibit significant differences in their demand for talent education, including “child care service,” ”supplementary education” and “emphasis on learning results.” 4. Preschool children’s parents of different ages exhibit significant differences in the demand for talent education, including “child care service, ” enhancement of learning achievement,” “emphasis on learning results,” and ”supplementary education.” 5. Preschool children’s parents of different education levels exhibit significant differences in the demand for talent education, including “child care service,” ”supplementary education,” “emphasis on learning results,” and “enhancement of learning achievement.” 6. Preschool children’s parents with different occupations demonstrate significant differences in the consumption decision factors of “environment and safety” and “quality and management.” 7. In the urban area of Kaohsiung City, 50% of preschool children received at least one kind of talent education; 52.6% of the preschool children spent at least 1-5 hours on such course(s) each week; the type of talent education was mainly determined by the mother, while the main reason was because of children’s interest.
