Sequence alignment of LLP20 cDNA shows the high sequence identity compared to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily in Arabidopsis thaliana. ABC protein superfamily is a membrane protein family of functional versatility, which is more encoded by the plant genome than genomes of human or fly (Drosophila melanogaster). Previous researches suggest that plant ABC transporter protein participate in some essential plant processes, including polar auxin transport, stomatal regulation, lipid catabolism, and heavy metal tolerance…etc. However, their major physiological function in mature pollen is unclear. To characterize LLP20, we aim to obtain the full-length sequence of LLP20 clone by 5’RACE and examine its expression pattern by RT-PCR.
