The researcher select some questions in four situations: the personal, social, professional and scientific and combine them into Mathematical Literacy Questions. The study sampling method is stratified cluster sampling of nine grade students in Kaohsiung city junior high schools. One of the study purposes is to know the students’ answer performance in different contexts and mathematics content knowledge. The other is to find the differences of gender, ethnic group( Han, Non-Han) , Social Economic Status( high SES, middle high SES, middle SES, middle low SES, low SES) , mathematics achievement( the averge score of monthly examinations is 80-100, 60-80, 40-60, 20-40, 20 or less ). In this study, the analysis methods are PCM mode, descriptive statistical analysis and ANOVA. The results are as belows: First, at least 26% of the sample students in Kaohsiung junior high school is get 0 point in opening questions of four situations. Then, 75.35% of the students even get 0 point in one of the questions. This display that the students don’t know how to apply what they learn in school curriculums. Second, gender is no significant difference in the mathematical literacy. Third, ethic group is significant difference in the mathematical literacy. The Han students' mathematical literacy is significantly higher than Non-Han students. Fourth, “ high or middle hige SES”, “middle SES”, “ middle low SES or low SES” is significant difference in the mathematical literacy. The higher SES of the students is, the better mathematical literacy is. Fifth, mathematics achievement is significant difference in the mathematical literacy. The mathematical literacy of students in higher mathematics achievement is significantly better than students in lower math achievement. Liu, Man-Li 劉曼麗 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 132 zh-TW
