| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 視覺藝術學系碩士班 === 102 === The paper focuses on the study on encaustic media and creation to lead to a complete understanding about the processes and principles of encaustic painting. Encaustic, a kind of media, can not only be applied singly, but also combined with the other multimedia to create works with various features and display new visual pleasant impression in terms of various forms of art creation. There are two aims of the present study. Firstly, to develop innovative form of encaustic painting through figuring out the various multimedia adopted in encaustic and the investigation on previous research and application. Secondly, since books concerning encaustic in Chinese are seldom found, it is hoped that more people would learn this form of painting through this study.
This paper consists of six chapters in combination with the pictures taken during the processes. Chapter 1 includes explanation on the following aspects: study motivation, purpose, fields, limitation, methods and frames. Chapter 2 is literature review. Chapter 3 is mainly on the methods used for encaustic painting, including glue basing, placement, instruments and pigment grounding. Chapter 4 introduces creation by using mixed materials and experimental skills, including transfer printing, cutting and filling, collage and cast. Chapter 5 explains the thought and explication of my creation. There are two series included. One is titled “Memory”: Coding the senses perceived in ordinary life in images while I am lingering between senseless and awake situation, I try to express my feeling delicately through the works. New interest and fun is sprouted out from the emotion of cherishing the past. The other is “Nature”: Nature changes along with seasons change. Different lives are born at the time when it is appropriate for their lives. That is the lively power that makes the whole world keeps going. I truly recognize that the natural power integrates this beautiful and loyal idea into my works. Chapter 6 makes a conclusion and further exploration. In the exploration of skills, it is observed that the degree of adaption of wax is rather high. However, in certain skills wax is substituted by paraffin wax because it is much more suitable to show texture on account of its hardness. Finally, it is highly expected that I will make progress in my future study and creation.
