The results could provide effective strategies and models suitable for developing identification tools to be used by senior primary school students. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, the conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: 1. When tested senior primary school students observed the plants, vision was most important and touch was second. Students used daily common object similarity, not geometric shape terminology to describe the appearance of plants. The feature recording was related to character quality and student attentions. Their observations were not systematic, very few negative and less quantitative. 2. There were differences among student recordings of organs and characters. Moreover, the characters used for different species were different. When a species has different development stages, the characters recorded by the same student were different. 3. When making plant keys, students mainly used stem and leaf characters. The dividing process was affected by the remaining plants without fixed standard and sequence. Because characters used are variable at each step, the key-out paths of each plant are different. 4. The polyclave and interactive key with flexible hierarchy, is recommended for campus plant identification as it is fit to student habits of observation and identification. It is suggested that senior students can use online keys with the help of information technology. Ho-Yih Liu 劉和義 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW
