Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 物理學系研究所 === 102 === The new approach is proposed to fabricate the liquid crystals lens without the traditional lithography process. Owing to the characteristics of photo-induced conducting polymer polyvinylcarbazole (PVK), which the conductivity depends on the irradiation of UV light, a progressive mask resulting in the variation of conductivity is adopted to produce the gradient distribution of electric field. The reorientation of liquid crystals according to the gradient distribution of electric field induces the variation of refractive index. Therefore, the incident light will experience the gradient distribution of refractive index. The optically isotropic feature of blue phase liquid crystals has been employed to the device of micro-lens arrays without the alignment layer. Because the response time will be shortened and the process will be reduced, this new fabrication of liquid crystals lens possesses the characteristics of fast response and polarization independence.
