Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 公共事務管理研究所 === 102 === Though the climate conditions in Kaohsiung are very suitable for utilizing solar energy, the market penetration of solar water heaters (SWH) is still low here. Past research of causes of Taiwan people’s willingness to install SWH has focused on governmental subsidies, energy prices, and people’s environmental awareness. This study extended the research by comprising attitude toward installing SWH, subjective norm and price as predictors of people’s intent to install SWH. In addition, this study also examined how knowledge and beliefs about SWH (about advantages and disadvantages of SWH, and its product characteristics) would affect attitude toward installing SWH. A survey was run and 600 Kaohsiung households were invited to participate. These households were selected from four districts in the Kaohsiung metropolitan area and all lived in houses. A total of 185 households responded, of which 79 had installed and 106 had not installed SWH. Results suggest that the more favorable people’s beliefs about SWH are, the more favorable will be their attitude toward installing SWH. Further, when attitude become more favorable, or when people believe that their family would agree to install SWH, people will have higher intent to install. Increasing people’s acceptance of the price of SWH might have a similar effect.
