According to the demographic structure in Taiwan, elderly people will increase quickly since 2011 to 2041. “Healthy People 2020” which been published in 2007 set the goal of “active aging” and “prevent disability”. We are trying hard to improve elderly’s physical activity performance and their health by the prevention of frailty, disability, falling down, depression, and suicide. Due to the effect of sex hormones, education levels, and some other social association factors, women have more chances suffering from depress then men. It is quite important to understand more about elderly women with frailty. Somehow we have a few researches in Taiwan. This is a quantitative research. Adapted to cross-sectional study. All the data were collected in Ilan county, Taiwan. The measurements including, frail criteria by Fried, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). With total population 216 women older than 65 years. SPSS 19.0 had been used for statistics. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation and multiple regressions were all used for data analyze. The study showed that over 50% of elderly women living in the community have fit the criteria of pre-frail. The prevalence of depression is about 11.1%. Age, physical activity, handgrip strength, walking speed, and alcohol intake had significant differences between robust and frail women. The outcome also showed that there was higher percentage of depress in those who had lower IPAQ score. The condition of physical activity has a lot to do with negative emotion mood. According to the research findings, we suggest that old age, frail, physical activity, and depress has a lot to do with both physical and mental health in elderly women. If the frail state is poor, increase physical activity should be considered. Tung, Heng-Hsin 童恒新 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 122 zh-TW
