碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 美術學系碩士班 === 102 === The purport of this research creation is to seek out and examine the remnant images which were being in silent state. Using photography to record people and things experienced during travel, I transformed them into personal creation ─「The Impression of Silence.」 This paper is divided into five main chapters below: First, chapter one is a preface, which explains the original definition, process; and analyzes the motivation, purpose, content and methods of this research. It also comes up the particular meaning of silence, creative concept and Eastern Gouache as a noun. Second, chapter two explains the theoretical foundation of this creation, and the concepts related to this series. With views about Western symbolism and Eastern unpredictable esthetics, I combined them with monochrome photography to seek the theoretical foundation in the innermost heart world. Third, chapter three probes into the creative concept for the creative subject ─「The Impression of Silence.」Placed the silent feeling that arose from heart during working into scene, and rebuilt the feeling from deep heart. Through analyzing the silent mental state, I could think over the relation between my self-state and scenery. Take Higashiyama Kaii for example, he integrated his literate accomplishment into painting and made the atmosphere of silence. He conveyed the idea by using same color system, and explained the assistances and differences between photography and painting on creation expression. Fourth, chapter four is talking about the concept of creation, which analyzed the sense of silence in heart from our life. The creation was based on the Eastern Gouache, and expanded to a series of monochrome paper works. We also analyzed its conception, form and medium form the creation. Fifth, the content of chapter five includes feedback and conclusion for this creation. The series of creations combined the ideas of Eastern and Western painting, and the concept of monochrome photography into works, which showed full of emotions. Hope spectators could feel the scenes, have another look at them and realized the creative concept from composition, coloration and brushwork. And I hope that I can have thorough research on base knowledge and make my creation much more exquisite in the future. Keywords: Silence , Creative Concept, Black-and-white Photography,
