Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 102 === The study investigated the relationship of young children’s temperaments and music preferences. 154 children aged 5-6 were chosen to be the participants from 6 public kindergartens in Tainan city. The instruments of measurement include temperament scale and young children’s music preference scale. Music preference scale includes 3 musical styles: agitated/exciting, calm/soft and sprightly/joyous, and totally it includes 12 songs. The music instruments representing different tone color are piano, orchestra, trumpet and violin. The results found: a. the boys showed a higher preference for sprightly and joyous music than the girls did, whereas the girls favored calm and soft music more than the boys did; b. there was no significant relationship among the music preferences children who under different musical background; c. children who exhibited high activity showed a low preference for calm and soft music; and d. children who yielded high scores in approach demonstrated a low preference for violin music. According to the results of this study, the researcher brought up some specific suggestions for teachers and further research in the future.
