碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 音樂學系音樂科教學碩士班 === 102 === This thesis provides an analysis of Johannes Brahms’s String Quartet No. 3, Op. 67, as a reference to music educator and researcher. This thesis consists of five chapters: the first one, Introduction, confirms the direction and scope of this research. The second and third chapters explore the life and works of Johannes Brahms, with a focus of his music style, especially his chamber compositions. The fourth chapter provides a detailed analysis of tonalities, formal structures, modulations, harmonic vocabularies, motives, and melodic materials of his String Quartet, No. 3, Op. 67. The final chapter of this thesis summarizes Brahms’ music styles, particularly the contents and compositional techniques used in this string quartet, which illustrate his music constructed on the basic structural of Classicism, yet some of his harmonic colorations and modulatory techniques reveal certain degree of Romanticism.
