A health-oriented IT technology curriculum was developed using Taylor's Model for Curriculum Development. In order to verify the influence that this health-oriented IT technology curriculum had on health -promoting lifestyle choices, a pre-experimental design and in-depth interviews were used to obtain research data. The results obtained are as follows: First, the health-oriented IT technology curriculum had a positive, significant impact on the health -promoting lifestyle choices made by the elderly participants. Second, the health-oriented IT technology curriculum inspired two effect paths. One path was a direct increase in health-information self-efficacy, a higher level of health-oriented knowledge and renewed enthusiasm toward healthy behaviors. The second effect path showed that the elderly participants found satisfaction in the use of information systems; becoming a successful Internet user altered their lifestyle and increased their social capital. This had an indirect health-promoting effect on the life-styles of the elderly participants.
