This study uses content analysis method to analyze 20 picture books, which are the sixth of “Umweltpreis der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur” award in 2011 from north of Germany “Mecklenburg- Vorpommern Natur- und Umweltpark Güstrow”. Researcher analyzes environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, environmental skill and related content in picture books. After integrating all the analysis, researcher found the following conclusions: 1. The primary goal of picture books is environmental knowledge, and every picture book includes environmental knowledge; 2. Environmental education content presented in picture books includes animal conservation, plant conservation, natural landscape and surrounding life. The animal conservation is the most popular issue in the picture books. There are two books about environmental skill and five books about environmental attitude, and these books present animal conservation or plant conservation; 3. Animal conservation is the most important issue in environmental education picture books in Germany. Those picture books emphasize on recognizing and thinking about animal’s characters and survival, or on protecting and respecting animals and plant. In conclusions, researcher offers some suggestions about environmental education picture books for preschool teachers, parents, publishers, government, and future researchers.
