However, the effect of this teaching method has not been thoroughly evaluated. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of the integration of the digital archive resources into the grade 5 elementary level science teaching on their cognitive learning achievement as well as the enhancement of their learning attitudes toward the animal unit. This empirical study lasted about a month and included 144 fifth graders from six classes. Among them, three classes were randomly assigned to the experimental group, receiving Digital Archive Resources Instruction (DARI) in which digital archive resources served as supplementary teaching materials and were used in the animal unit teaching. The rest three classes were in the control group, in which General Model Instruction (GMI) was implemented and no digital resources were used. After the twelve periods of instruction, a self-made achievement test and an attitude questionnaire were implemented to measure the students’ learning achievement as well as their learning attitude toward the taught animal unit of fifth grade science. The scores of both were collected and the data were analyzed via one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results show that DARI group scored significantly higher than the GMI group in the achievement test and the former also scored higher in the attitude questionnaire than the latter. It is thus understood that the integration of the digital archive resources into the teaching of science effectively improves students’ learning achievement, and in the same time enhances students’ learning attitude toward the animal unit. It is also proved that the abundant pictures, images, animated films and text resources stored in the digital archive together make the resources a powerful instrument for the teachers to use in their elementary science teaching. The teachers are thus encouraged to utilize these resources so as to make their class a more interesting one. Chyuan, Jong-Pyng 全中平 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 173 zh-TW |
