When discussion about libido- pursuing, family-abandonment or adultery of husband, women always been hide or considered as a victims of sexual abuse. Review the Taiwan adultery cases in Qing dynasty. Some Taiwan women show different attitudes on active libido- pursuing or reveal emotion to her adulterer. On the other hand, husbands losing all dignity even life under his wife and adulterer’s opinion like a “coward”. As for the adulterer, a pitiful “keh-shiong (adulterer in Taiwanese)” will be abandoned by women, revenged by husband even be ridiculed as “syy-han-haur (Taiwanese)” while become poor or aged. Actually adulterers live under the huge pressure from other adulterers, husband, women and
social ethics.
This article collects 142 Taiwan adultery cases in Qing dynasty, and reference as other local documents, poetry, proverb and lyrics. Research the relationship between wife, husband and adulterer. Thus, expose the taboo parts of early Taiwanese women to summary some opinion for today’s adultery topics
