Engage kids in learning and exploring traditional arts and culture through aesthetic experiences, hands-on activities, small group interaction, and participating in the field trip and art exhibitions at the Mengjia Longshan Temple located right in the community. This action research was classroom-tested with current pre-K to K students in Lao Song Elementary School. The results indicate that this adapted lesson plan not only allowed students to learn the environmental benefits of recycling by using recycled items for crafts or projects but also modeled an authentic and infectious curiosity that influences how students interact with community Jiannian arts and integrate it into their daily lives.
