They completed a questionnaire concerning the age range of their classes, as well as the major difficulties when running the class. Descriptive statistics and techniques of stepwise regression were used in the data analysis. The results showed that: (1) Four factors were identified as having impacts on the difficulties experienced by the teachers of cross-age classrooms: the existence of very young children, the limited classroom resources, teachers’ beliefs about peer scaffolding, and parents’ expectation and socioeconomic status.
