Abstract This creation research aims to present the artistic conception of the dragon image and the aesthetics of the dragon paintings in order to demonstrate the profound five-millennium-old Chinese culture. Also, the origins and legends of dragons will be analyzed as the subject matter of creation. This creation research aims to study: 1. The feature and meaning of dragon images of all sorts. 2. Apply different media to create works with the dragon image. 3. Turn the dragon image into products in the cultural and creative industry. By means of literature review and objective and systematic description, I will discuss the features and meanings of dragons. Combining the dragon image with the experiment of color, shape and the act of composing, I will present works with ink painting, block print and digital creation. This study offers the following suggestions: 1. Enhance the productivity of M.A. students through industry-university cooperation. 2. With courses of aesthetics and experience, the quality of works can be enhanced. 3. Recognition toward local culture can stimulate the inspiration of creators and hence make the cultural intension more noticeable. 4. Massive production of works into goods and the market development can be the subject matters of future studies. Keywords: dragon image, painting, cultural and creative industry
