The subjects of the research are two students with mental retardation. A single test experiment is used in the research design to study the changes of the subjects in cardiopulmonary function, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition as well as the impacts after the implementation of New Style Gymnastics. The experimental stages consist of (1) the baseline stage, (2) the intervention stage, and (3) the retention stage. The data collected in the study is processed with visual analysis supplemented with learning questionnaire and observation logs to more detailed and highly cohesive results. Results of the research are as follows: 1. The New Style Gymnastics activities have immediate and remaining effects on the cardiopulmonary function of junior high school students with mental retardation. 2. The New Style Gymnastics activities have immediate and remaining effects on the muscle endurance of junior high school students with mental retardation. 3. The New Style Gymnastics activities have immediate and remaining effects on the flexibility of junior high school students with mental retardation. 4. The New Style Gymnastics activities have immediate and remaining effects on the body composition of junior high school students with mental retardation. 5. The two subjects have high satisfaction with the New Style Gymnastics activities and their own gymnastics performance as well.
