Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系教育研究所 === 102 === A Multiple-Case Study on a School Characteristic Strategic Alliance Model Abstract In this study, a school characteristic and strategic alliance model and how school characteristics developed based on various forms of strategic alliance differ from one another were investigated. This study employed a multiple-case study approach to examine the strategic alliance model and provide schools with a reference for developing distinctive characteristics and establishing strategic alliance. Model development must be established on a solid theoretical basis. In this study, we conducted a literature review that included a variety of perspectives ranging from theories of strategic alliance, transaction cost theory, resource-based view, social networks, and the guanxi networks in Chinese societies. The following models were summarized based on a literature review on the formation of strategic alliances among schools: vertical integration facilitates access to core resources, thereby enhancing alliance performance; through strategic alliance, schools can gain access to heterogeneous resources, immobile resources, as well as core resources, thus enhancing alliance performance; geographical distance between schools affect the level of communication, which affects the level of trust that in turn has an effect on the accessibility of core resources, thereby influencing alliance performance; the tie strength and closeness of the guanxi network influences the level of trust, which affects the sustainability of an alliance, thereby affecting alliance performance. Additionally, the level of trust affects the accessibility of core resources, thereby affecting alliance performance. The school characteristic strategic alliance model was developed based on the aforementioned models in reference to research findings associated with school characteristic studies. The results revealed that the development of school characteristic strategic alliance is influenced by 4 factors: principal changes, consensus cohesion, characteristic development schedule, and participation. The school characteristic strategic alliance model was constructed based on the aforementioned theories. To improve the comprehensiveness and rigor of the model, multiple cases were examined to compare the various forms of alliances. In-depth interviews, observation, and documentation analysis were conducted on 12 schools and 3 dance classes; the results are as follows: (a) The school characteristic strategic alliance model was composed of the transaction cost theory, resource-based view, social network theory, Chinese guanxi networks, and the factor, principal changes. (b) Horizontal strategic alliances focus on complementary resources; vertical strategic alliances value student recruitment links; and hybrid strategic alliances are a combination of both. This study integrated research results pertinent to strategic alliance and school characteristics and the commonalities of studies were summarized by comparing multiple cases: principal changes affect the development of school characteristics and the sustainability of a schools
