Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 工藝設計學系 === 102 === Ming-style furniture, abundant in form and technicality, greatly inspires modern furniture, and has long been incorporated into modern life. Concentrating on the design of Ming-style furniture, the thesis has two categories. The first category offers a literature analysis of Ming-style furniture, in an attempt to present its major characteristics. The second category discusses Ming-style furniture as is applied to modern furniture. It conducts a survey for consumers specialized in furniture design on how they perceive this traditional artefact. Both parts hold the key to my research on Ming-style furniture.
The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter one depicts research background, motivation, purposes, procedure, range, and limits. Chapter two is a literature review of Ming-style furniture and related products, east and west. Chapter three sketches out research methodology, framework, and scope, using questionnaire to delineate the exclusive attributes of Ming-style furniture. Chapter four is a case study of modern furniture as influenced by Ming-style furniture. It manifests the impact this unique style has on consumers and modern designers in shaping their creative ideas. Chapter five draws a conclusion and gives suggestions for future studies.
