He had devoted himself to the art of calligraphy and seal-engraving as well as the development of art in Taiwan. He spent lots of his time in practicing clerical script and mostly seal script of Chinese Calligraphy. His works featured a style of calmness and grace, which came from many great stone inscriptions and calligraphers. The experiences that he had learned in his early time had gradually shaped his artistic characters and later he was able to combine them with his masterpieces. He had been concentrating on engraving exquisite seals which displayed various styles and types. The origin of his artistic characters came from the extensive ancient seals and many prestigious seal-engravers in Chinese history. By absorbing plentiful excellent artistic characters, Tseng Shao-Chieh was able to converted what he had learned into his works, and blended new ideas into the original traditional style. Tseng Shao-Chieh had ever published some “Printing of Seals, ” which collected ancient seals and famous seal-engravers works. Among these publishing, "Seals Selection" has provided great samples to many learners. Because of his efforts, the remarkable advances had been made in seal education. His achievements and contribution had earned him the acclaim of the seal-engraving community. In this study, I have collected Tseng Shao-Chieh’s works and attempted to analyze the course of his learning and how he established his style. 林隆達 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 222 zh-TW |
