Investigate the differences between hostile attribution, angry emotion and aggressive behavior between ADHD and normal children. Furthermore, verify the mediator effect of angry emotion so as to make contribution to understanding of the mechanism and clinical treatment of ADHD. Research Design : The population of the sampling is the community, picking up 48 ADHD children and 66 normal children as control set. They are comparable in gender, age, and family socio-economic status. Take Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) with good reliability and validity and hypothetical scenarios as the measure of hostile attribution, angry emotion and aggressive behavior. Research Results : Compared with normal children, children in ADHD have a higher possibility in physical aggressive behavior, verbal aggressive behavior, indirect aggressive behavior and total aggressive behavior. With respect to hostile attribution, children in ADHD in normal and ambiguous situation tend to attribute others intention or behavior to be hostile and unfriendly. With respect to angry motion, children in ADHD has apparently higher trait anger and state anger. In general, in normal condition, trait anger is the mediator of hostile attribution and aggressive behavior. In ambiguous condition, only state anger can well predict aggressive behavior. There are no mediation among the three. Discussion : The disease mechanism of different kinds of aggressive behavior from children in ADHD are different. The most effective predictor of verbal and indirect behavior is trait anger. Not only trait anger is the factor leads to physical aggressive behavior but also high hostile attribution through other mediator. In summary, angry emotion is critical to behavior of children in ADHD. People should base on different disease mechanism to give appropriate treatment clinically.
