Description
Summary:碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 休閒事業管理研究所 === 102 === The drastic change of society creates fierce competition between industries hence lead to heavy workload and high workplace stress. Leisure activities those help soothing stress and improve mental and physical health gradually play a more and more potent role and are greatly valued in recent years. This also increases the needs of recreational facilities. Most facilities however require being operated by hand, hand grip strength is therefore a significant factor. This study discusses discrepancy of hand grip strength between current adults and their previous generations, types of recreational activities involved, individual variances, and correlation between grip strength and grip span of 271 subjects from 20 to 59 years old, and proposes practical suggestions for the design of recreational facilities and activities base on the findings. Experiment survey was adopted to facilitate sampling. Methodologies of data analysis include descriptive statistics, independent and dependent t-tests, single factor ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The conclusions obtained from this study are summarized as follows: I. Leisure activities affect little on grip strength. II. Grip strength shows a descending trend with increasing age. III. Males have stronger grip strength than females. IV. 4.76 cm is the most appropriate length for gripping. V. Hand grip strengths have little variance between different ethnic groups VI. Dominant hand has better grip strength than the other. VII. People with longer hand have better grip strength. This study elaborates the norm of the grip strength of young- and middle-age Taiwanese adults and suggests factors such as grip span, age, and sex should be considered while designing activities and facilities.
