Data were collected from January 1 to March 31, 2014. This study aimed to investigate association factors for the health promotion lifestyle and sleep quality among the nurses. The structured questionnaire was composed of two parts: Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the internal consistency of Cronbach's α for each scale were .93 and .83. 337. From the 1 conveniently-sampled hospital located in northeastern Taiwan, 322 nurses (314 women, 8 men) were enrolled between January and March 2014 and completed a structured questionnaire in face-to-face interview. Each participant provided information on demographics, Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 19.0 and p<0.05 was set as the required level of significance. All data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation (SD) or percentage. The t-tests and ANOVA were used to examine differences of Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index by each characteristics of the demographics. The relationships between numerical variables were examined with Pearson’s correlation coefficient. To examine associations between Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and demographics. Results about there were 322 eligible participants finally recruited in our study. 322 subjects, unmarried, mean 21-56 years old, education level of college, the title of nurse. The health promoting lifestyle was moderate, with the highest score interpersonal support, and exercise behavior of the lowest scores. The mean score of sleep quality was 7.60 (SD = 3.29), 73%poor sleep quality. Demographic variables of age and WHO five health indicators have a positive correlation of age (r = 0.123; p <.05), WHO health indicators (r = 0.487; p <.01) and overall health promoting life patterns have a positive correlation. Demographic variables was significant in the shift condition (p <.01), positive correlation between age and total years of nursing work and sleep quality scores presented in the WHO health indicators and quality of sleep scores showed a negative correlation. Nurses a negative correlation between health-promoting lifestyle and sleep quality score. This study highlights the importance of to apply for health promotion and via coping related courses, supervised exercise program designed to meet the nurses hold regular parent-child activities and family day tour or set up their own mind sitting nursing station, so as to improve nurses' health promoting lifestyle execution and improve sleep quality.
