To clarify, the research constructs of this study including health, innovation, happiness, burnout, and organizational citizenship behavior. First of all, this study explores impacts of R&D employee’s health and innovation. To explore the roles of happiness and burnout, the other purpose is to investigate the relationship among R&D employee’s happiness, burnout, and organizational citizenship behavior. To assess the applicability of this conceptual model, this study employs an Internet-based questionnaires survey collected primary data from employees of R&D departments of firms. The target firms has selected from the list of the top 2000 firms in Taiwan. The statistical techniques adopt contain descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, canonical correlation analysis, and structure equation model. The results indicate that both health and innovation can significantly enhance R&D employee’s happiness and organizational citizenship behavior. R&D employee’s health is not associated with burnout, but innovation can significantly result in burnout. In addition, both R&D employee’s happiness and s burnout are associated with organizational citizenship behavior. Accordingly, the higher degree of R&D employee’s happiness or lower degree of burnout can engage in extra-role organizational citizenship behavior of R&D employee.
