Via suitable design of the voltage across the output capacitor of the buck-boost converter in the proposed circuit topology, not only the voltage stress on the switch but also the low-frequency output voltage ripple is reduced. Therefore, the proposed converter has a smaller low-frequency output voltage ripple than the traditional single-stage high-power-factor flyback converter. In addition, the voltage stress on the output capacitor of the buck-boost converter in the proposed circuit structure can be varied by the turns ratio, so as to increase design elasticity. In this study, the basic operating principles, mathematical deductions and theoretical analyses of the proposed topology are described in detail, along with some simulated and experimental results provided to verify its feasibility and effectiveness.
