碩士 === 國立臺北藝術大學 === 文創產業國際藝術碩士學位學程 === 102 === During the last decades, artists’ turnout to join artists’ residencies has increased. Artists’ Residencies nowadays play an important role on artists’ career, providing them with numerous benefits that might vary depending on the type of residency. Unfortunately, there are only few studies that focus on the interaction between the artists’ residencies and the artist. For the purpose of this investigation, three organizations in Taiwan were chosen to conduct the research, which include: Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taipei Artist Village and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts. A semi-structured interview was conducted to 18 artists who did a residency time in these organizations. This study was able to conclude that the main motivation for international artists to come to Taiwan was curiosity to get to know the country. Moreover this study revealed that the environment, artists interactions with other artists, the facilities of the residency and staff support were aspects that were considered important during the residency and that affected artists’ work of art. Last but not least, this study revealed that the residency has a long-tail effect on artists’ work of art and career.
