Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 通訊工程研究所 === 102 === With the popularity of mobile network and the rise of mobile devices, setbacks such as lack of bandwidth are commonly seen. At present days, 802.11 has been a stable and mature technology. Its prevalence also makes itself a much more affordable choice for Internet access. The goal of this thesis is to promote the formation of large wireless network by combining multiple Wi-Fi networks of home cable modems in an attempt to share the traffic load with, or even replace mobile networks. The experiments in this thesis were conducted to transmit 802.11 data streams in GRE-channel and non-GRE-channel respectively, under the structure of DOCSIS, developed by CableLabs. The main method in these experiments is to collect and analyze the statistics of throughput and response time of data traffic, and the loss rate of voice stream. The results show that the throughput and response time in the GRE-tunnel environment is inferior to the same statistics in the non-GRE-tunnel environment. Even so, the GRE-tunnel environment still shows better performance than present mobile networks. It is also notable that both test environments have similar loss rate caused by voice stream, proving the usability of the GRE-tunnel. Key words: mobile network, GRE tunnel, DOCSIS, throughput, response time.
