Countries around the world make entrance into the Chinese market their priority. With all countries and businesses striving to build trade relations with China, learning business Chinese has become a popular trend. However, this phenomenon raises the following questions: Are the demands for learning business Chinese really as expected? Are Chinese learning centers able to meet the tremendous demand? Can business Chinese teaching materials satisfy learners’ needs? Are there enough business Chinese teachers? To follow the trend of global economic development and design courses and teaching materials that meet ESP standard and learners’ needs, it is necessary to immediately survey the current teaching and learning of business Chinese. This study focuses on the teaching and learning of business Chinese in Taiwan, and takes learners’ needs as its primary consideration in order to grasp their real demands for business Chinese courses. It discovers that over 75% of learners are willing to take business Chinese courses. After visiting existing Chinese learning centers in Taiwan to examine the courses provided and business Chinese teaching materials used, we discover that these centers are unable to provide courses compatible to beginners’ learning capabilities. After interviewing teachers in these Chinese learning centers, we find that over 50% of them are willing to teach business Chinese courses. To allow beginners to select business Chinese courses, this study conducts a survey of primary-level business Chinese teaching materials, which are then utilized in the teaching for the beginners. The beginners are also interviewed to better understand how the teaching works. It aims to provide solutions regarding business Chinese courses, business Chinese materials and business Chinese teachers in order to internationalize Chinese learning centers in Taiwan.
