Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 102 === Since the dramatic changes of weather and the public concerns of food safety, industrial experts, academic professors, and government officials have paid more attention to the industry of Taiwan plant factory. The study draws attention to the research on the structure of such an industry and the growth strategy of firms within the industry. Using the methodology of case study and interview, this study analyzes how the case company increases its competitive advantages to respond to its different growth stages along with its growth logics through the development of its core competences and diversification. Depending on background of electronics and mechanical engineering, the case company initiates the business of factory facilities, concentrates the research and development on highly economic value crops, and establishes the brand and its channels in the market of food and restaurant. Moreover, it constantly develops various products to broaden the width of product lines and expands its business territories through the increases in its channels and product sales. The plant factory, a new form of industry, consisting of high-tech industry, facility and equipment industry, LED industry, and plant and agricultural industry, includes different characteristics of companies from the upstream to the downstream, raising the entry barrier and creating the value of diversification. The study proposes three propositions on the basis of the research results. The results indicate that when the cost of factory construction is high in the initial stage of the plant factory, a firm needs the resources from its parent company to build up effective channels and acts as a supplementary partner through strategic alliances to generate mutual benefits and to create win-win situation. Furthermore, the integrator within the value net including research and develop, manufacturing, and marketing activities is the biggest winner, who focuses on developing its core competences and waits for opportunities in order to dominate the market and respond to competitors from the next run competition of global value net.
