Therefore patients often lose the patience to do rehabilitation treatment. With the advance of virtual reality technology, physical therapists begin to use virtual reality applications in rehabilitation. However, the virtual reality devices are complex, expensive and difficult to operate. Consequently, virtual reality systems usually are not suitable in the home environment. In recent years, Kinect has been used for rehabilitation. Because Kinect is cheaper and does not require the user to wear markers or sensors, it is adopted in this study. A Kinect-based rehabilitation platform is built to import web-based games for rehabilitation exercise. The system is suitable for rehabilitation using different body motions. Through the use of GlovePIE, a web-based game can be ported to the platform in only a few minutes. As a result, this system can have many games to enhance patient's interest and willingness of rehabilitation treatment. In addition, programmers can save time on game development.
