Both children and adults often remember their joyful, sad, as well as, trying experiences associated with “train”. The main topic of the present study is to discuss that what are the features and functions of a “train” appeared in Children’s literature. AKAITORI’s tales and children’s songs including “train” (for example, Steam locomotive’s smoke and sound) were chosen to discuss the features and the function of “train” stories. AKAITORI is a symbolic masterpiece to protest against the old writing style of Children’s Literature from the Meiji period, and promote the creed of childlike innocence in Taisho period. The research primarily focuses on three types of writers’ train works in AKAITORI. One of them is professional writers, another is adult writers, and the other is children writers.
