In this study, the authors propose a novel method – Fuzzy NeXT method to measure such gaps and to propose possible opportunities to fulfill the gaps. We started from a literature review to identify the criterions system. Then we evaluated current available products by accessing the level of fulfilling customer needs and core technologies. Thus, we conducted a panel to propose strategies to fulfill these gaps. The results show that the method can not only precisely measure the gaps between users’ demands and technological availabilities, but also stimulate participation and interaction between suppliers and customers. Nevertheless, we also postulate that this method can trigger additional co-innovation activities and it is potential to be applied for corporate foresight, service foresight, and many other applications.
