Catching this trend, The 205th Arsenal in Armament Department of National Defense R.O.C has struggled to investigate a new type gun for years and recently a initial conceptual design in 5.56mm Multi-Utilization Special Rifle(MSR) emerged. The emphasis is to design an assault rifle that is not only powers but portability. For this purpose, the aim for this thesis is set to analyze the transmission mechanism in this new type MSR, to be there continuing improvement of lightweight designs. In this thesis, the mechanical analysis software ADAMS is applied to simulate the movement of transmission components in MSR to observe whether the components are correspondent with the designing concept and there is any interference. Moreover, the non-linear finite element analysis software ALGOR is also used to compute the transient stress addressed to components, display the phenomena while working and provide lightweight design improvement and critical components optimum design.
