Among these diseases, influenza is the most common. School-age children are often infected with influenza virus, since their immune functions have not yet been matured well. As they enter school, they will be educated in groups. In case of an infected child, the group infection often occurs easily. That is, the infection will not only have great impact on the infected student’s body, family, and related medical cares, but will also influence the health and learning environment of the other students in the same school. For example, the increasing number of infected students will impact their learning quality, status, and outcomes. Moreover, since the teachers have contact with these infected students frequently and for a long period, they may also be infected easily. If a teacher has been infected, their teaching quality will be influenced and their students' learning outcomes will be reduced. Therefore, the research aims to discuss the characteristics of Influenza and its impacts on elementary schools, and to explore relevant prevention and control methods preliminarily. The proposed models are constructed step-by-step through cellular automata. Next, simulation scenarios are designed to understand the influence of parameters, such as infectious, immune and recover rate. According to the results, conclusions and perspectives are drawn. The proposed models and methods are expected to be reference for elementary schools to prevent and to control influenza efficiently, and then to improve these infected students' learning.
