As a result, public health nurses are facing enormous job stress, which directly impacts on their job satisfaction and job performance. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationships between job stress, job satisfaction and job performance among public health nurses in Taichung City, and provide insights for the authorities’ reference of decision. Methods: This study utilizes a cross-sectional survey study. The sample consisted of 238 public health nurses recruited from 30 districts’ health centers of Taichung City Government. A total of 235 valid questionnaires were collected (returned rate was 98.74%). Data were processed by SPSS 17.0 version for statistical analysis. Results: (1) The age is ranged from 31 to 40 years old in a proportion of 50.2%. The major proportion on seniority in 1-5 years is 39.6%. Working overtime in more than 20 hours per month accounts for 11.9%. (2) In all dimensions, pressure from superior of job stress, intrinsic satisfaction of job satisfaction, and individual performance of job performance have the highest score. (3) Those who are registered nurses and registered professional nurses are less satisfied than head nurses. Those who work overtime in less than 20 hours per month have lower job stress and workload, leading to higher job satisfaction and job performance. Pressure from superior of nurses with less accumulated years of nursing is higher than that of nurses with more accumulated years of nursing, leading to poorer individual performance. (4) Job stress is negatively related to job satisfaction, while job satisfaction is positively related to job performance. (5) Pressure from superior, intrinsic satisfaction, and extrinsic satisfaction are positive predictions to job performance, while pressure from organizational climate is negative prediction to job performance. Conclusion: Job stress and workload among public nurses result from high performance required by superior, resulting in lower job satisfaction and job performance. Hence, we suggest that relevant government departments modify workforce preparation, integrate resource, improve standard of internal management, and provide the way to learn and relieve stress. In the long run, it will enhance the community's satisfaction and friendly workplace for public health nurses. Ho, Chin-Chih 何清治 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 165 zh-TW
